Kenneth Branagh Says Thor's Going Fine
| ||
In case you hadn't heard, the latest rumor coming out of the Thor camp is that Anthony Hopkins is being a little diva and giving the verbal smackdown to the much younger and much less-experienced star, Chis Hemsworth (Kirk's dad in the newest "Star Trek").Supposedly, Hannibal Lector was all: "You can't act for shit, little boy! When I was your age, we didn't have the benefit of green screen sets! You had to act with the props you were given, and those props were shitty balsa wood!" That was paraphrasing. Anyway, with the Marvel properties on unsure footing now that we're in our long, pre-Avengers gap, it wasn't long before Hopkins and his PR crew realized this was a mess they had to clean up: Hopkins was said to be outraged by the report. The 72-year-old Welsh actor issued this statement: “I am having the time of my life making Thor with Ken and Chris. They have made every day immensely fun and collaborative, and we're all puzzled that someone would fabricate a story suggesting otherwise. I'm proud to say that Thor has been one of the great experiences of my career.” Branagh,meanwhile, went on at length about the esprit de corps of his cast, which also includes Rene Russo, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson and Stellan SkarsgĂ„rd. Not that dissent on a set is always a bad thing, but if the PR gets out of hand, it can hurt a film (if that film is mediocre to begin with: see "League of Extraordinary Gentleman" and the non-professional "Terminator: Salvation"). The good news about "Thor" that also came out of an LA Time Blog article (which you can readHERE)? "Thor" is filming in New Mexico and is almost ready to enter the post process for a summer 2011 release. |
